Make It With Hemp
Exploring how specialist suppliers can use the platform to showcase alternative fabrics.

Direction
Vision
The project explores how a hemp supplier can use the platform to position hemp as a creative driver, with fabrication leading its marketing and sales materials.
The decision
Core Challenge
Demonstrating the versatility and commercial viability of hemp fabrics through contemporary design concepts, while working within realistic cost, category, and market expectations.
Concepts
Concept Exploration
Fabric research leads the process, with material properties informing silhouette, construction, and function. The project begins by uploading hemp swatches to explore potential applications.
Inside the workflow
Behind The Scenes × MercuriDash

The hemp supplier selects key swatches that are currently in-stock with different weaves and colours and upload these directly to the asset library for onwards design use.

The swatches are uploaded with availability in stock, cost per metre and composition details to enable Concept Studio to take account of commercial constraints.

The starting point is design from swatch feature which enables the fabrication to form the starting point for an initial design concept for one product.

Intelligence settings are adjusted to ensure that any designs avoid fabrics such as leather, fur and non-organic cotton in line with brand standard.

Initial generated design is refined in the editor and swatch reapplied to ensure it exactly matches the texture and colour of the hemp fabric.

Further designs are generated with the remaining swatches and shared with brands via the showroom as a sales asset at fabric trade shows.
Outcomes
Commercial Outcomes
Every concept the supplier took to the trade show was buildable from fabric actually in stock, at a metre cost brands could quote against on the day.
